Mareeba Sweet Pineapple Cheesecake

Mareeba Sweet Pineapple Cheesecake

Making Cheesecake from Mareeba Sweet Pineapples.

Australia produces just under 36 million pineapples per year.   Pineapples prefer reasonably dry subtropical climates, which explain why only a few areas of Queensland produce the majority of Australian pineapples.   The majority of pineapple growing areas in Queensland are in the south-east, but the Mareeba district in tropical North Queensland, located on the Atherton Tablelands, produces a very sweet and juicy pineapple.

What is so special about the Mareeba District of tropical North QLD?

From memory, this is a very fertile area of approximately 170 hectares (420 acres) in this district.   Those farmers produce what we know as the Mareeba Sweet Pineapple.  This great tasting pineapple is the subject of today’s article, as well as its use in cheesecake recipes.

How a pineapple tastes to you is actually quite subjective, and taste buds can react to small noticeable differences in a pineapple’s taste, which is often influenced by the soil in which the pineapples were grown, the climate of that area, and specific growing conditions.   Australia is home to a number of pineapple species, including the Smooth Cayenne, Queen, Spanish, Pernambuco, Mordilona, and the delicious Mareeba Sweet mentioned above.

Mareeba Sweet is a very popular variety of pineapple.  Perhaps the Mareeba district of tropical north Queensland’s ability to produce such an amazingly delicious pineapple stems from its sandy soil and nine-month dry spell, which are ideal for summer pineapple production.

Why Choose Mareeba Sweet Pineapples for Your Cheesecake?

When it comes to making a pineapple cheesecake, using the finest ingredients is essential to achieve the best flavour. Mareeba Sweet Pineapples offer a unique taste that elevates any dessert, including cheesecake.
